L’Arche St. Louis has purchased a second home and plans to welcome three or four adults who have intellectual disabilities (known as “core members”) to live there in 2016. The half-acre property is located in Maplewood, a neighborhood just outside the St. Louis city limits, and is about a mile from the community’s first home. It consists of six bedrooms, and has sufficient space on the lower level to open a small workshop to provide daytime work and activities for the core members.
Some construction and small repairs are necessary to accommodate the new core members and live-in assistants who will be joining the community. If building permits and work can be completed as scheduled, the community anticipates opening the home in January or February 2016.
How to get involved:
- Give a donation to help with purchase, renovation, and ongoing expenses.
- Become an assistant and provide support for daily life for 3 or 4 adults who have intellectual disabilities.
- Email or call Kristina for a wish list to help furnish the new home. kristinaroselle.larchestl@gmail.com or (918) 633-1933
- Become a volunteer or attend L’Arche St. Louis community events.
