Laurie Pippenger and Eva-Elizabeth Chisholm of L’Arche Greater Washington, D.C. attended President Obama’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of the American Disability Act at the White House on July 20.
“Millions of Americans with disabilities have had the chance to develop their talents and make contributions to the world. Thanks to them, America is a stronger, more vibrant, better country,” the President said.
While celebrating all that has opened up to people who have disabilities in the past 25 years, Obama recognized the need to continue to remove the obstacles that remain and ensure funding is available for essential services.
