On Sunday, August 11, the city of Mobile lost a very special man and many people lost a friend. His name was Harry Reber. He wasn’t rich in terms of money or property. He didn’t live in a fancy house or wear expensive clothes. He didn’t hold public office. He wasn’t a doctor, lawyer, or educator. He was just a good and genuine man with a huge capacity to love and a smile that could light up a room. He had all the moods we all have and he showed them honestly. He lived with the challenges many of us do in addition to having an intellectual disability. And he was very, very loved.
You see, Harry was a member of L’Arche Mobile for over 29 years.
